Mónica del Corral Alarcón is a lawyer specialized in Industrial Property, belonging to a family of attorneys with a historic and continuous dedication to this field. She has been trained from the outset in the practical environment of innovation and the protection of intangible assets, growing up among prototypes and technical developments linked to patents, which has shaped a professional approach especially oriented toward a real understanding of the business, the product, and technical evidence. She joins as Of Counsel, contributing a predominantly contentious practice focused on the effective defense of Industrial Property rights and, when appropriate, Intellectual Property, as well as the strategic advice necessary to keep clients’ rights active and protected.

Academic and Institutional Activity

She has been a professor of Industrial Property in the Master’s Degree in Innovation Management at the School of Industrial Organization (EOI). The School of Industrial Organization (EOI) is a Spanish public institution of reference in postgraduate and executive education, specialized in business management, innovation, entrepreneurship, and organizational transformation, with programs oriented toward professional practice.

At the institutional level, she has been an active member of AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property), an international reference entity dedicated to the promotion and improvement of Industrial and Intellectual Property protection and to the advancement of regulatory harmonization through technical analysis and the development of proposals.

Within the Spanish Group of AIPPI, she served as a Board Member for four years, participating continuously in the Group’s work and in the development of reports and technical positions. She has led international reports aimed at the unification and evolution of the legal framework, including “The Rights of Entrepreneurs in the Field of Industrial and Intellectual Property” and “The Impact of Joint Ownership of Rights on Their Exploitation,” and has also participated as a contributor in other technical reports.

Experience and Practice Approach

Her professional activity is primarily oriented toward litigation and judicial strategy, with legal direction and management of proceedings from start to finish, from viability analysis and the pre‑litigation phase to obtaining a judgment or resolving the conflict, with personal involvement and direct contact with the client.

Her current practice is developed mainly in the civil sphere, both before Spanish courts and before the European Union Trademark and Design Court, without prejudice to her previous experience in administrative litigation in Industrial Property matters. She has participated in trademark, design, and patent litigation in sectors such as fashion and footwear, as well as in industrial fields including the agricultural and automotive sectors, and has assumed trademark defenses in matters of special relevance, including those related to signs such as NSR (Honda), SMART, and MASTERCHEF.

In the non‑contentious field, she provides ongoing advisory services in consultancy and contracting related to the exploitation, maintenance, and defense of Industrial and Intellectual Property assets, including the contractual structuring necessary to protect and organize ownership, use, and exploitation of rights.

She also participates in domain name disputes, including proceedings and mediation before the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center.
